Transition Boot Camp

Transition Boot Camp begins on Monday, May 11, 2020. Registration for Transition Boot Camp is open through September 1, 2021. A registration link will be sent to you in your confirmation letter once you register.

LETRS-EC: Three-Day Online Training - May 26, 2020

There will be a three-day online training with Jana Frost beginning on May 26, 2020. Registration is open through May 27, 2020. We require full attendance and completion of the evaluation before you are issued a certificate for this training. You will meet on all three days. The days are May 26, June 1, and June 8, 2020. Please read your confirmation letter for instructions on how to request the LETRS-EC 2nd edition textbook needed for this training. We will include all other materials needed for this training in your confirmation letter. Please download and bring them to your training.

The facilitator is Jana Frost. Jana is a lifelong educator with 29 years in the elementary classroom. She has been an assistant principal and for eight years was the headteacher for Logan Elementary School. For four years, Jana was the regional reading specialist supporting reading instruction in 10 rural school districts in Eastern New Mexico.

LETRS-EC: Three-Day Online Training Administrators - June 8, 2020

There will be a LETRS-EC three-day online training for administrators beginning on June 8, 2020. Registration is open through June 9, 2020. We require full attendance and completion of the evaluation before you are issued a certificate for this training. You will meet all six days. The days are June 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, and 23. We will include materials and instructions for the manual needed for this training in your confirmation. Please download and bring them to your training.

Lynn Kuhn, M.A., CCC-SLP is a 40-year veteran educator focused on language, literacy, and social-emotional development through high-quality scientifically-based instruction for all. Lynn is a speech-language pathologist, special and general educator, diagnostician, literacy and dyslexia specialist, coach, trainer, professional development coordinator for the Colorado Reading First initiative, and consultant with an Early Reading First implementation.

We require full attendance and completion of the evaluation before you are issued a certificate for this training. You will meet on all six days. The days are June 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25. until noon each day. We will include materials and instructions needed for this training in your confirmation. Please download and bring them to your training.

FOCUS: WIDA Early Years on Monday, December 21, 2020

The WIDA Early Years is a FOCUS requirement for NM pre-kindergarten, Title I, special education teachers, EA, and long-term substitutes. Teachers must complete the training within two years of hire, and within one year of hire for returning teachers and EA's.

It is also a requirement for instructional coaches and administrators.

Upon registering, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to access the training.

FOCUS Intentional Teaching on Monday, December 21, 2020

Intentional Teaching is a FOCUS requirement for NM pre-kindergarten, Title I, special education teachers, EA, and long-term substitutes. Teachers must complete the training within two months of hire.

It is also a requirement for instructional coaches and administrators. Administrators have the option to complete this training in the PED Online FOCUS Leadership Academy.

Upon registering, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to access the training.

FOCUS: Early Childhood Observational Assessment Tool (ECOT) on Monday, December 21, 2020

The Early Childhood Observational Assessment Tool (ECOT) is a FOCUS requirement.You must omplete no later than August 31 or within 30 days of hire by NM pre-kindergarten, Title I and special education teachers.

Administrators are required to complete this training, and first-year preschool administrators must complete training by August 31. Instructional Coaches are also required to complete this training.

Upon registering, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to access the training.

The Early Childhood Observational Assessment Tool-Refresher (ECOT-R) is a FOCUS requirement.

NM pre-kindergarten, Title I, special education teachers, and NM administrators must complete annually by August 31. Instructional coaches must also complete this training.
